Fall Conference – not in-person

Hello WA APCO/NENA Members,

It is with regret that I tell you the Executive Board has decided to cancel the in-person October 2021 Annual Conference in Kennewick.

This decision was not made lightly as we recognize the value of coming together to lead, learn and leverage.  911 is a unique industry, one that is essential in providing safe communities in which to live, work and play.  Coming together to learn from each other in training tracks, to see new or improved offerings from our valued vendor community, and the time spent renewing friendships and sharing life with each other all make for stronger and healthier 911 Centers.  The exposure risks from the COVID-19 variants have prompted many agencies to restrict travel to protect their employees’ health and to protect the staffing levels many of us are already struggling to maintain.  While safety is the primary factor, it is also true that low attendance numbers would not cover the costs associated with producing a high-quality conference.

So, while we will not be meeting in-person in October, we will continue to seek ways to provide quality training and networking opportunities.  We will have an October 5th Chapter meeting held virtually.  We will recognize award winners and special contributors.  We will continue to share our collective wisdom with each other.

Submit your award nominations soon!  The deadline is August 27th and you do not want to miss the chance to acknowledge the good work of your amazing colleagues.

Stay with us and stay tuned!  Visit the Chapter website at www.waapconena.org for the most current information.
