Get ready for State 911 Conference!
The Washington State Public Safety Communications Conference is getting closer. Here are some things you can expect at this year’s conference – and if you haven’t registered yet, there is still time, but get to it soon! Check out the conference page for the schedule at a glance.
Fundraising activities –
- Auction Baskets – PSAPs and vendors donate baskets, and we host a silent auction. Money from the auction goes to the Sunshine Fund. There are a lot of fun bidding competitions that happen during the conference. Final bids are made, and winners are announced right before the Awards Banquet on Thursday. So get your basket together and help us raise money for a great cause.
- 50/50 ticket sales – each day, raffle tickets are sold. The winning ticket is pulled at the end of the day, and the owner receives 50% of the money raised in ticket sales that day. It’s not uncommon to win a few hundred dollars! So bring your cash to buy 50/50 tickets each day.
- Pre-orders are open for the 2024 Chapter Calendar. Donate $30 toward the Sunshine Fund and we will send you the 2024 calendar in December. The calendar is filled with photos submitted by YOU and the rest of the membership. Send your photos to photo@waapconena.org to be included in the calendar.
Service project – Stuff-A-Sackpack
- We have partnered with Stuff A Sackpack to collect non-perishable foods, hygiene products, blankets, and other items to put together for unhoused teens in Chelan and Douglas counties. The teens will receive the bags right before winter break. They give away about 300 annually! Their primary ask for us is feminine hygiene products or toiletry items (especially shampoo, conditioner, body wash & deodorant.) So start collecting some of these items and bring them to the conference.
Chapter activities –
- The Chapter Meeting will begin at the conference on Tuesday night at 6 pm. The meeting is free for anyone to attend, and we encourage all conference attendees to come. Learn what the Chapter is doing, meet some of our International APCO and NENA representatives, and learn the outcome of the Chapter leadership vote.
- Chapter Dinner – if you registered for the Chapter Dinner, join us at 5:30 pm on Tuesday for dinner. This is a great opportunity to connect with new colleagues and reconnect with those you may only talk to on Zoom meetings or last saw at the conference last year.
- RSVP now for Axe Throwing. Beginning at 7:30 at Axe Bliss, $30 gets you an hour of axe throwing. Pre-registration and payment are required. You don’t have to attend the Chapter Meeting or the Chapter Dinner to do the Axe Throwing. Get your friends together (groups of 2 or 4 will be in the same axe-throwing lane) and have some opening night fun! Limited space is available. Beer, wine and cider is available for purchase at the venue.
